Worship
We extend to you a warm welcome to our Sunday morning worship which commences at
11:00 a.m. (Summer services begin at 10:00 a.m.) When entering the Church, you
will be warmly met by one of our Greeters. Our Greeters will answer any
questions that you may have and show you our Welcome table which has information
about the United Church and Emmanuel. We have installed monitors at the front of
the sanctuary which display announcements before the service and you can follow
the order of the service such as hymns, scripture etc. If you prefer to use the
hymnbook, Voices United (VU) and the supplementary hymn book, More Voices (MV),
instead of reading the screens, they are available in the pew racks. Bibles are
located at the end of each pew. If you need hearing assist devices please ask
the greeters for assistance.
Prior to the service, our Musical director, Colin Persad plays quiet, reflective
music on the organ. The service begins with the entry of the Senior Choir. The
announcements on the life and work of the church and upcoming events are
shared. Prayer, song, the reading of the scripture and sharing our gifts
(offering) follows as well as a few minutes with the minister and the
children. The last Sunday of each month, we have a bucket offering of small
change (loonies and toonies) to support Regeneration and St. Andrew’s Food Bank
which are local outreach projects. Canned food for the food bank is also
collected on this Sunday.
Music weaves its way through the service through hymns, musical responses and
choir music. Once a month, our children/youth choir share their gift of music.
The New Directions (alternative choir) participate in the worship twice a month.
We are treated every Sunday to uplifting music by our senior choir before
listening to a meaningful sermon from the Minister. The service closes with a
hymn and the blessing that sends us out to live faithfully in the days ahead.
We meet after the service in the Church Hall for “Sip & Talk”, a time for
refreshments and casual conversation. Please come and join us. All are welcome.
Children are always welcome during our services. If they become fussy, crayons &
colouring materials are available in the Narthex to help Mom & Dad relax & enjoy
the service. A supervised Nursery upstairs is available too.
